Speaking about horse training one should keep in mind that there is one more delicate and unpleasant thing which is named a whip. 7.2 A.Nevzorov (off screen): Here is a typical reaction to a whip of a standard sport horse. Just a view of a whip (not even mentioning the touch of it) makes a horse terribly frightened. The only thought of a horse is how to run away, to make off at all costs.Panic fear of a whip - the way it looks its touch, its awful whistle - is typical of any horse. 7.3 A.Nevzorov (on screen): Thank you. So – a whip. Everything that has been said before doesn’t absolutely mean that a master who rides a horse or works it in hands shouldn’t have a whip. A whip is an essential thing, it’s a conductor’s baton and extension of an arm; a whip determines the rhythm, the pace, the lifting of feet. Everything is done by the whip except one thing: one can’t hit with a whip and a horse must be sure of it. The horse shouldn’t be scared of a whip and should be aware that it will never be hit with a whip. It absolutely doesn’t matter how many whips you have in your hands: one, two, three or even … an atom bomb. The more important thing is the horse’s attitude to it. The horse which has never been whipped and has never been punished doesn’t consider a whip dangerous and reacts to it as to some training instrument. 7.4 A.Nevzorov (off screen): In the process of training a horse you will need a much longer whip, so-called lunge whip. A horse as a rule is afraid of lunge whip even more than of a common riding whip, as its hit is much more painful. But a horse which has never been beaten and understands that it will never be hit cannot be scared even of lunge whip. 7.5 A.Nevzorov (on screen): O’K, O’K. O’K, girl. Sit down, girl. Sit down. Thank you. 7.6 A.Nevzorov (off screen): Lunge whip is a dangerous thing. Lunge whip is one of the main secrets of circus. On the circus ring a horse can’t escape it, its blows at ears and croup and each blow is very strong and painful. 7.7 A.Nevzorov (on screen): So, except all known ways of a horse on the earth, there is another one which is called Circus. |
